Nail Buffer Blocks

Nail Buffer Block

You may first have seen them in the mall, at those little vendor kiosks that sometimes set up shop around the holiday seasons. Many bath and body stores are now selling them as well, and they make great small gifts for friends or family. The subject, of course, are nail buffer blocks. They are handy little tools to have on hand for nail care, both at home and in a salon. Often times, nail technicians will use a nail buffer block as it is a wonderful multi-tasker and takes up less space than the multiple tools required otherwise.

Nail Buffer Block Tip #1

Be sure that the nail buffer block you are purchasing is of good quality. While they may all look alike, not all will stand up to the use you put it through.

Nail Buffer Block Tip #2

Pay attention to the directions and be sure that you are using the sides in the correct order. Many come pre-numbered, but some do not.

Nail Buffer Block Tip #3

Do not be afraid to try different brands. You may find that one particular brand works better for you than another.

When purchasing a nail buffer block, you’ll want to make sure that it is of good quality. You would not want to purchase a block only to find that it has fallen apart after just a few uses. You’ll also want to be sure that the sides will last for a decent length of time; yes, you’re going to need to change out your block on a regular basis, but it should not have to be a weekly occurrence.

The block should also either come with directions or should have its sides numbered. While many people may know right away what to do and how to use a nail buffer block, there are still others who are unaware. You would not want to damage your nails by using the sides in an incorrect manner or in the wrong order, so be sure you know which sides to use and when.

Not everyone’s nails are the same, just as not every nail buffer block is the same. While the blocks all generally achieve the same results, there are some that have rougher surfaces while others seem to have smoother surfaces. This is where trying different brands comes into play. You don’t have to commit to the first block you buy. Your nails may not need the same rough treatment as someone else’s nails do, and so you may need to look for a nail buffer block that is more tailored to your needs.

Do not hesitate to shop around and even approach someone in the mall who is selling a nail buffer block and ask for a demonstration. Often they will have a block on hand for that very purpose. If you go to a salon regularly, you can also ask your nail technician what kind they use – the salon may even sell them right there.

Nail buffer blocks are very useful tools to keep on hand, both for salon and personal use.
